Kindergarten Program Overview

Welcome to our Kindergarten program, where a classical, biblically centered education meets experiential learning and language immersion. We believe in maintaining the best elements of classical education to help our students thrive. Each day begins with recitation—a fun, engaging time filled with music, songs, poetry, and jingles that equip children with knowledge they will carry for a lifetime. Whether learning about presidents or practicing phonics, our goal is to create a joyful and meaningful learning experience.

At the heart of every subject is a biblical worldview. We aim to nurture not only academic growth but also the development of godly character. Through Bible-based lessons and guidance, students learn about kindness, conflict resolution, and living out Christian values in practical ways. Our conflict resolution approach helps children articulate their feelings and reconcile with their peers, all while shepherding their hearts toward biblical understanding.

Character Education & Service Opportunities

Character education is woven into the fabric of daily life at our school. Students learn about key traits from the Bible, which guide their behavior and decision-making. When conflicts arise, we walk alongside them, asking questions like, “How can you redeem or repair this situation?” and “What does Scripture tell us here?” By discipling our students, we aim to foster genuine heart change.

In addition to daily lessons, students are given opportunities to practice kindness and serve their community. Examples include participating in Veterans Day programs, Police Appreciation Day, and Pastor Appreciation events. Students enjoy creating crafts and making presentations as acts of service and gratitude.

Academic Preparation for First Grade

Our Kindergarten program provides a strong foundation to prepare students for first grade. By the end of the year, students will:

  • Recognize all upper and lowercase letters
  • Create simple words and sentences
  • Write in complete sentences
  • Listen attentively and follow instructions
  • Decode and sound out new words
  • Recognize and spell 130-150 sight words
  • Understand basic addition and subtraction concepts
  • Demonstrate rhyming skills and a growing vocabulary
  • Understand basic social skills like sharing and taking turns

We also focus on reading fluency, comprehension, and STEM concepts through hands-on activities, storytelling, and exploration.

Learning Environment & Safety

The safety of our students is a top priority. Our Kindergarten classroom is located in a dedicated building for Pre-K through 2nd grade, with two armed security personnel on campus daily. We create a judgment-free zone where students feel comfortable expressing their concerns, and we foster a structured environment with consistent routines and clearly defined classroom procedures.

Parental Involvement

We encourage parents to be active participants in their child’s Kindergarten experience. Our Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) offers many opportunities for involvement, from mystery reader sessions to helping with holiday parties and field trips. Parents also participate in our hiking days, school-wide events like Thanksgiving Breakfast, the Color Run, and the Veterans Day Program. Additionally, we host First Friday coffee and conversation events, where parents can engage with teachers and ask questions.

Enrichment & Extracurriculars

We offer a range of enrichment classes, including music, art, library time, and gym. Spanish will soon be introduced through music, taught by a native speaker. Our elementary students also have opportunities to participate in after-school clubs, which run until 3:30 or 4:30 p.m.
